“God’s Love Gives Us Courage”

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
– 2 Timothy 1:7-8

Paul reminds Timothy that the Spirit God gives is not one of fear but of power, love, and self-control. When we feel small, ashamed, or tempted to hide our faith, this verse calls us back to the Spirit’s strength. Obedience to God isn’t a timid duty; it’s a courageous response empowered by God. The same Spirit that raised Christ equips us to stand firm, speak truth, and serve others with bold love and steady discipline, even when it costs us.

Father God, thank You for the Spirit of power, love, and self-control. Fill me with courage to live and speak Your truth without shame. Help me obey from love, act with wisdom, and trust Your strength when I am afraid. Use me for Your purposes. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Precious mighty Name Jesus Amen.

Perfect reminder is that God’s love doesn’t make us passive; it empowers us. Obedience flows from the Spirit’s power and love, not from guilt or fear. When we obey, we step into the boldness God gives and reflect his heart to the world.
