John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
– Luke 3:16
John’s words point us from preparation to power. He humbly baptizes with water while pointing to One far greater who brings the Holy Spirit and the refining fire, not merely an outward rite but an inward transformation. Where water marks repentance, the Spirit and fire purify, empower, and set hearts aflame for God’s work. Let this remind us to welcome the Spirit’s cleansing and courage, to trade self‑reliance for dependence on Christ’s power.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, You who baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire, come and purify my heart. Fill me with Your Spirit, burn away what hinders, Your mercy is new every morning, give me boldness to live and speak Your truth. Keep me humble like John, ready to point others to You, and strong by Your power to serve. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Amen.
