Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
–Â Hebrews 13:5-6

These verses tie contentment and courage to a single, unshakable promise: God’s continual presence. When Paul quotes God’s vow, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” Paul gives the foundation for living without covetousness and for facing people and circumstances without fear. The result is a confident, simple prayer: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Contentment flows from trust. Wanting what others have fades when you rest in God’s provision and presence. Boldness follows assurance. Knowing God is with you changes how you respond to threats, criticism, and uncertainty. Practice this truth: repeat the promise aloud, bring specific worries to God in prayer, and choose one small act of generosity or gratitude today to counter covetousness.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, thank You and praise You for Your promise to never leave me. Help me to be content with what I have and to stand without fear because You are my helper. Give me the courage to trust You in the small things and the big. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Jesus Amen.
