That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
– Isaiah 45:6-7
God is declaring that He alone is Lord. His authority reaches from sunrise to sunset, and nothing lies beyond His knowledge or control. In this passage, “evil” can refer to calamity, disaster, or judgment, rather than God committing moral wickedness. The larger message was meant to assure God’s people that even while they were in exile, He remained sovereign and was working toward their restoration. We experience seasons of light and seasons that feel unbearably dark. Although we may not understand everything God permits, darkness does not mean He has abandoned us. The God who forms the light can still bring healing, purpose, and testimony from the darkest chapters of your life.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, You alone are God. You have seen every bright day and every dark night of my life. When I cannot understand what has happened, help me trust that no darkness is greater than Your light. Continue healing my heart, guiding my writing, and using my testimony to bring hope to others. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious name Lord Jesus Amen.
