Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
– James 4:8-10

Draw near to God, that simple invitation is also a promise: when we step toward Him, He steps toward us. The call to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts asks for honest repentance, not perfection; it asks us to name what’s wrong, turn from it, and let God’s grace remake us. In humility, mourning over sin and lowering ourselves before the Lord, we make room for God to lift us up and restore our joy.

Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, help me draw near to You. Cleanse my hands, purify my heart, and give me the humility to repent where I’ve gone wrong. Lift me up by Your grace and steady my steps so I may walk closer to You. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Lord Jesus Amen.
