In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
– John 1:1-4
The Word walked through the dark before dawn, and wherever it passed, things began to remember why they existed. Stones hummed with purpose, rivers learned their names, and people found a small, steady light inside their chests. That light taught them how to see one another, and in seeing, they began to live together as if the world itself were a single, breathing sentence.
