I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
– John 17:23-24
This is where Jesus prays for unity between himself, the Father, and his followers, and for believers to be with him to behold his glory. The verses emphasize intimate union, divine love, and the eternal scope of that love, “you loved me before the foundation of the world.” We all need these verse’s everyday living in this world that is not our home. These verses point us away from the world’s noise and toward a present, personal hope: unity with Christ, the Father’s eternal love, and the promise of being with him. “That they may be made perfect in one” Hold on to these words. When the world feels heavy, remind yourself this life is temporary and your identity is rooted in God’s prior love. Tell one person, briefly, how these verses shape your life, witness is often simple and relational.
Father God, thank You and praise You for loving us before time began. Help us live in the unity Jesus prayed for, to reflect Your love, and to walk each day with the hope of being with Christ. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the Honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
