"Only Life Changes"

{Jesus appears to his disciples} On the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the disciples were meeting together. They had locked the doors of the room because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Then Jesus came and he stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ After he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were very, very happy when they saw the Lord. Jesus said again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, in the same way, I am now sending you.’ When he had said this, he breathed on them. He said, ‘Receive God’s Holy Spirit. If you forgive a person’s sins, God will forgive them too. If you do not forgive them, God will not forgive them.’

Living simply refers to voluntarily engaging in practices to simplify one’s lifestyle. It is a tool to eliminate life’s excess, focus on the essentials, and find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom. Common practices of simple living include reducing the number of possessions one owns, depending less on technology and services, and spending less money. Simple living also reflects a person’s mindset and values. Living simply is about getting out of debt and focusing more on the necessities rather than continually buying more unnecessary stuff. God desires that we live lives that are pleasing to Him. Meanwhile, to live for God simply means that we’re walking according to His precepts and staying on the path He has planned for us. This basically means that we’re no longer living for ourselves or accomplishing the things we desire or want. Simple living and practicing the spiritual discipline of simplicity have allowed me to live an authentic life of faith, a life of purpose, and a life that is truly full. A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life. {Proverbs 13:7 EASY: Somebody who has nothing may still pretend to be rich.

He must live like a person that carries his own cross to go and die. If he is not ready to die for me, he cannot be one of my disciples.
