” Be merciful unto your child, then. Do not choose an idol thoughtlessly, remembering that your child will pay the cost as well as you. For your child will be delayed when you look back, and you will not perceive Whose loving hand you will hold. Look forward, then; in confidence walk with a happy heart that beats in hope and does not pound fear.

“Start In New Light”

© Photo Artist Susan ruth Robertson 09002500100 059.JPG

God has provided light, this circle of brightness is the real deal in a real world, where guilt meets forgiveness. Just saying. Here the world outside is fresh and new. You see more than ever before God’s beauty and energy, without the shadow of guilt upon it. For your forgiven, for here you have forgiven everyone. Here is a new perception, where everything is bright and shining with innocence, washed in the waters of forgiveness, and cleansed of every evil thought you laid upon it. Here there is no attack upon the child of God, and you are welcome. Here is your innocence, waiting to embrace you and protect you, and make you ready for the final step of eternal life. Here are the darkness and heaviness of guilt laid by, and gently replaced by purity and love. Love is not learned. Love has never left you. Embrace the truth.

“If I Were Hungry”

When food, whether meat or vegetable, was offered in sacrifice, there was a natural suggestion that the worshiper was providing sustenance for the god or gods being worshiped. In the Old Testament sacrifices were required by Israel’s God. Yet the Psalms reveal a sharp polemic against any such misinterpretation of the sacrifices. Yahweh declares, “If I was hungry, I would not tell you.” {If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.  Psalm 50:12}

“Cloth Is Woven”

001.JPG002.JPG

Cloth is woven by passing one thread, the weft, back and forth through fixed threads called the warp. A loom is any device that holds the warp. A shuttle is a spool or frame that carries the weft. It moves back and forth in a repetitive motion, ending its task when the length of cloth is finished. Job compares his passing days to the shuttle shooting to and fro between the warp threads. {My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope. Job 7:6}

“The oldest Writing Tablet”

Until this discovery, the oldest tablets were those found in a well at Nimrud, near Nineveh, dating from about 700 B.C. The original writing surface was a coating of wax.

The oldest writing tablets { Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:  Isaiah 30:8} discovered so far can be dated to about 1350 B.C. They were found in A.D. 1986 in a shipwreck off the coast of Southern Turkey.

“Prayer”

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  Luke 11:9

  1. And I say unto you, Ask, { Someone is speaking to you listen: they will tell you about their situation or others.}
  2. And it shall be given you;{ASK THEM: Can I pray for you?}
  3. Seek, and ye shall find; {Picture the person in your mind as you pray. {Remember if you don’t know the person you’re praying for, God does. So it is ok. Just use their name in your prayer for them. If it is an unspoken claim, its alright. God already knows.}
  4. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. { When you pray you are giving it to God to take care of this person’s situation.}

“Another Goody For The Oldtimers”

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn’t seem to get food poisoning.

My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter AND I used to eat it raw sometimes, too. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers, but I can’t remember getting ecoli.

Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then.

The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.

We all took gym, not PE… and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked’s (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors. I can’t recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now..

Flunking gym was not an option…even for stupid kids! I guess PE must be much harder than gym.

Speaking of school , we all sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention.

We must have had horribly damaged psyches. What an archaic health system we had then. Remember school nurses? Ours wore a hat and everything.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud ofmyself.

I just can’t recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations.

Oh yeah… and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played ‘king of the hill’ on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites, and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of Mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn’t sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked.

Now it’s a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics, and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

We didn’t act up at the neighbor’s house either because if we did, we got our butt spanked there and then we got butt spanked again when we got home.

I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop, just before he fell off. His mother came over, picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck.

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family How could we possibly have known that?

We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes? We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn’t even notice that the entire country wasn’t taking Prozac! How did we ever survive?

LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA, AND TO ALL WHO DIDN’T- SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN’T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING.
