Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

This is one of the most tender and powerful declarations of divine love and human responsibility. It beautifully reminds us: Love begins with God, not with our efforts, but with His initiative to love us first. Jesus is the proof, sent as the propitiation, the atoning sacrifice, for our sins. We are called to reflect that love, by loving one another, we become vessels of His presence. God’s unseen presence becomes visible, through the love we share, His love is perfected in us.
