And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

This passage from 1 John 5:19–20 is radiant with assurance and clarity. It speaks directly to our ministry’s heartbeat: the call to know the One who is true, and to rest in the eternal life found in Jesus Christ. The contrast between the world’s darkness and the believer’s belonging to God is stark, and yet, it’s not meant to frighten, but to anchor.
May your understanding be lit by His coming, and your heart rest in the One who is true. You are not adrift; you are of God.
