Paul sought desperately to exterminate Christianity, which he regarded as a rival of the true faith: “I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women” (Acts 22:4) “Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme.
