{Let’s Pray: Father God, I thank You for answering Prayers, for teachers, leaders and all those who follow in all that You do. Bless them today and bless their families. I hope this message touch’s hearts today in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
The word “Christ” means anointed. It comes from the Greek Χριστός, cristos, and is a translation of the Hebrew word for Messiah, מָשִׁיחַ, meshiyach, which means anointed or chosen one. Christ, used by Christians as both a name and a title, is synonymous with Jesus. It is also used as a title, in the reciprocal use “Christ Jesus”, meaning “the Messiah Jesus”, and independently as “the Christ”. The Pauline epistles, the earliest texts of the New Testament, often refer to Jesus as “Christ Jesus” or “Christ”. Jesus was referred to as “Jesus of Nazareth” for several reasons. For one thing, in Bible times people were often identified by their native area or place of residence. The man who carried Jesus’ cross when He was no longer able to, for example, was called Simon of Cyrene, noting his name and his place of residence (Luke 23:26; As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. Incidentally speaking, ‘Jesus’ is the human name of Christ whom God had given. In essential words, the name Jesus means Savior, one who will save people from their sins. It served as a sign of the things to come and His mission when he walked the Earth. Jesus in line with this higher moral law, Jesus of Nazareth preached an ethics of selfless concern for the welfare of others, rejection of material wealth, and non-retribution, all of which were standard in Jewish ethics. In many statements, Jesus of Nazareth explicitly rejects government and politics as a legitimate sphere of human action. Granted, it’s a riddle that’s tough to grasp right away, so John (the writer) explains it: “But this meant the Holy Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.” At least some got it. They concluded Jesus was a prophets
Let’s read Hebrews 10:32-38:
Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay. “And “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
“Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering? Do not turn faithless in adversity. The writer of Hebrews now encourages us to remember who you are in Christ. Do not be confused about who Jesus is. Comparatively, we must believe the truth about who Jesus is
Let’s read John 7:25-44.
Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? But, lo, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? Howbeit we know this man whence he is but when Christ cometh, no man knows whence he is. Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him. Then said Jesus unto them, yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. Ye shall seek me and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. Then said the Jews among themselves, whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come? In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, of a truth this is the Prophet. Others said, this is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Hath not the scripture said That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? So, there was a division among the people because of him. And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
