“Jesus Teaches at The Feast”

In John 7:24, “Stop judging according to outward appearances; rather judge according to righteous judgment.” Context Summary John 7:14–24 is a strong spiritual challenge issued by Jesus against the religious leaders of Jerusalem. Jesus makes the point that obedience is a necessary aspect of learning. I can remember a time; it was like wintertime back east in Massachusetts. My friend Ruth, she had red hair like me, and we were friends. She lived on the 4th floor. Her mom and sisters. Ruth’s sisters were older and made in front of her. She would cry. Then the more we saw each other and talked. We talked more about what wanted to do in life. Ruth wanted to be a teacher. Ruth and I could talk most of the time. She would walk to the store with me when I would work for the elderly ladies. We had a pretty great friendship. One thing I didn’t realize being so young is I should have prayed more. I was young. But one evening, I found out she committed suicide. I was so heart broken. I judged myself for not praying enough for her. Maybe if I had prayed for her more. If only I had prayed for Ruths mom and sisters also. I pretty much judged them and myself. Til one day I talked with her mom. I prayed from my heart for her mom and sister’s, to this day I miss Ruth, her mom and sisters also. But mostly Ruth my friend. I know I will see her in Heaven one day. I would still speak to her family. Then they moved away. “Judge not” is one of the most over-used clichés in discussions of Christianity. When I was a child, I didn’t understand…
It reads in: “Matthew 7:1″Do not judge, or you too will be judged. “. Unfortunately, it’s almost always stated out of context. This gives the impression that Jesus simply said, “Do not judge.” In fact, Jesus often made a point of telling others that they should judge, but only “with right judgment,” as stated here (Deuteronomy 1:16; And I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the cases between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother or the alien who is with him.) (Matthew 7:2–12: For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholds thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considers not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asked receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give* him a stone? Or if he asks a fish, will he give* him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore, all things whatsoever ye that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.). Jesus’ frequent teaching was that we should not be superficial in our assessment of other people. However, it is crucial that we separate what is good from what is evil (Ephesians 5:8–16; For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather* reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleeps, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.).
Let’s read: John 7:14-24
Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, how knows this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why go ye about to kill me? The people answered and said, thou hast a devil: who goes about to kill thee? Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvels. Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers; and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance but judge righteous judgment.
