“Stand As Strong Christians”

Signs of Spiritual Maturity: Just like you and me, the first-century saints to whom the book of Hebrews was written had their share of challenges in life. A portion of their challenges were from external sources, while others were self-induced. When a child is very young, they can only consume mothers milk. Foods with more substance are beyond them; they can only process something specifically meant for infants. The same way, those who are spiritually immature can only deal in simpler spiritual matters. This is not bad, when a person is a new believer. However, if a person remains in this state of spiritual infancy, when they should have grown enough to handle more solid spiritual “food,” then they have only themselves to blame (Ephesians 4:11–15: So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ). According to the writer of Hebrews, his target audience is going to miss some of the deeper meanings he will describe (Hebrews 5:11), since they are “dull of hearing.” In this context, that “dullness” means laziness and apathy. The word “perfection” (teleiotes) answers to that rendered “full grown” (teleios) in the preceding verse, and expresses maturity, fulness of growth. There the contrast is with “babes,” and the whole context relates to Christian instruction, the elementary and the complete.
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:12-14
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Hebrews 6:1
{Lets Pray}
Father God I believe that I will mature in the faith and walk in the light, as He is in the light. Let me to move on from dipping my feet to running the race before me in the elementary teachings of Christianity and I believe that I may grow into a deeper awareness of all that You would teach me. Assist me to growing in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus more and more. Let me keep walking in spirit and truth and enable me to learn patient endurance so that I may become perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Guide me to increasingly abide in Christ and He in me, to Your greater appreciation, praise, honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
