As believers were to look out for the interests of others, as well as their own. All Christians, regardless of maturity or authority, are supposed to treat others with humility and selflessness. Second, the focus is not exclusively toward others. We experience comfort, encouragement, love, and unity as saved believers in Christ. As a result, we ought to express comfort, encouragement, love, and unity to our fellow believers. Sometimes it is hard when your dealing with those who hurt you. “Ask God for the strength to speak to them.” What does the word harpagmos mean in Philippians 2? When the NIV was first translated, the meaning of the rare Greek word harpagmos, rendered ‟something to be grasped,” in Philippians 2:6 was uncertain. {Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:} But further study has shown that the word refers to something that a person has in their possession but chooses not to use to their own advantage. Rather than coming first as God and King, Jesus freely took on the form of a human being. He was humiliated and oppressed, following the will of the Father, in order to be the sacrifice for our sins. Paul describes Jesus Christ as one willing to be humble, in obedience to God the Father. For this, God will exalt Jesus’ name above all others. Someday, one way or another, all people will admit that Jesus Christ is Lord, and submit to Him. Obedience to God: Christians ought to live, considering all that Christ was willing to do for them. The command to ”work out” salvation is a directive to let the new birth in Jesus Christ into prayer and actions. As a part of this, believers should serve God without griping or complaining.
Philippians Chapter 2:1-18
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputing’s: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain. Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
{Let’s Pray}
Father God, I thank You and praise You for all that I have received in Jesus Christ. I thank You and praise You for Your love, mercy, forgiveness, peace and the comfort that it brings. I thank You and praise You for Your grace and Your compassion and the gift of the permanent presence of the Holy Spirit. I thank you and praise You that I am accepted in Christ and part of that heavenly realm that has received life eternal by faith in Jesus Christ. I believe that together with my brothers and sisters in Christ we may live in spiritual unity, compassion and godly harmony, being of one mind; maintaining the same love; united in spirit and purpose, in which is to be increasingly transformed into the image and light of Jesus. If there is anyone who does not know You I ask they pray with me this prayer. Father forgive me of my sins I ask You to come into my life. I believe in You, Jesus. I believe that You are Lord. You are the God Most High. You are the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Erase my doubt, Jesus. Take it all away. Help my unbelief. I deliver myself into Your righteous hands in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
