Proverbs Chapter 19. This literally means that wealth adds new friends while poverty alienates existing friends who grow weary of the demands of the poor. We see that fleshly people who are not led by the Spirit run to those who have money to be their friend. Perhaps, they feel some of this will rub off on them. Discussion for Proverbs 19. Verse 21~ No matter what the plans of men may be, the counsel or the saying of Jehovah God is what will stand and be fulfilled. Verse 17~This is a promise that God will reward the one showing favor to the lowly one. Verse 2 describes a person who acts rashly as one who is sinning. Wisdom is equated with God’s commandments. In a sense, Proverbs contains the applications and implications of all that is in God’s moral law. Those who disregard wisdom, bound in their folly (fools) will also have their penalty. Correction will come to them in its appointed way, and sadly, the correction will do little good for them.
Proverbs Chapter 19:1-29
Better is the poor that walked in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that haste with his feet sins. The foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD. Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbor. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape. Many will intreat the favor of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursues them with words, yet they are wanting to him. He that gets wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keeps understanding shall find good. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish. Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes. The discretion of a man deferrers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favor is as dew upon the grass. A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD. Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises his ways shall die. He that hath pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again. Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil. A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge. He that wastes his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach. Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that caused to err from the words of knowledge. An ungodly witness scorned judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoured iniquity. Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
{Lets Pray}
Father God, I thank You and praise You that I know that it is Your will to help those that are afflicted, to support the weak, to provide for the widows, orphans and to help those that are in need and pray always for all situations. I believe for You to use my hands to be of service to those in need, and use my voice to speak words of healing and encouragement to those that are afflicted and in distress. I believe that You will use my feet to spring into action and be a comfort to people who are closed in and have no one who cares or they just can’t get out to enjoy all the luxuries others have like going to church or the grocery store. Let me be a gifter of Your love, hope and compassion. I thank You, praise You and give You all the glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
