“Hope In The Lord’s Forgiving Love”

Psalm 130 begins with a personal testimony of God’s rescue from the depths of guilt. From there, the author ascends step by step to a place where he can give confidence to others in their trust in God. Because Psalm 130 is marked by an awareness of sin and a powerful assurance of forgiveness, tradition numbers it among the seven penitential psalms (6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, 143).This psalm relates not to any temporal concern, either personal or public, but it is wholly taken up with the affairs of the soul. It is reckoned one of the seven penitential psalms, which have sometimes been made use of by penitents, upon their admission into the church; and, in singing it, we are all concerned to apply it to ourselves. The psalmist here expresses,

PSALM 130:1-8
Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
{Prayer}
Father God, I thank You this morning for the gift of life You have given me. Many times my heart has cried so hard it felt like it was just bleeding to death. But You heard me and listened to every cry, joy and through it all. It is You that lifted me out of those circumstances. Nothing in my hand I bring this morning, simply to Thy cross I cling. I thank You and praise You Father God, for sending Jesus to pay the shocking price for my sins, I thank You and praise You and give You the glory that His own life-blood shed for me. That gift of forgiveness no one can fake and it makes my heart proud to be called a daughter of God. I thank You and praise You that in Jesus Christ, I have forgiveness of sins and life everlasting, and I offer this prayer to You in heart felt comfort. peace and love in name of Jesus Christ, my God and Savior, Precious Name Amen.
