“Prayer for Deliverance from Secret Enemies”

Psalm 64 emphasizes the devious nature of David’s enemies. They use secret plots. They shoot in secret. They attack suddenly. Especially because David mentions an attack by arrows from a hidden or secret position, his enemies act like the ancient version of snipers. The psalmist earnestly begs of God to preserve him from disquieting fear. The tongue is a little member, but it boasts great things. The upright man is the mark at which the wicked aim, they cannot speak peaceably either of him or to him. There is no guard against a false tongue.
Psalm 64:1-10
Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them? They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away. And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
Father God, thank You for David’s example of a person who confided in You even when others plotted against David, You stuck by Him through it all. Thank You when our enemies plot against us. You hear, see and respond to them with their own evilness and let them fall into their own pit of injustices they prepared for themselves to hurt others. I thank You and praise You that You are a Father God of justice for the righteous man and woman. You are Your Children’s All and All Glorious Father. A Father that loves his children who do right, even if they are harasser or gossiped about. I love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. Psalm 64:10
