“Only For God”

“Only For God”
Our bodies can’t survive long without food, water or exercise. God hard wired our bodies to remind us of the face we can’t live without these three things. If you eat and don’t exercise, you become a hermit. When we are hungry, our stomachs rattle and grumble. When we are thirsty, our mouths and throat grow dry and we get dizzy. Our bodies let us know what it needs in many ways. Our minds think of ways to quench it.

{As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, So my soul pants [longingly] for You, O God. My soul (my life, my inner self) thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I come and see the face of God?
Psalm 42:1-2}

In the same way God calls us to share our intimate thoughts and feelings, this is the relationship He wants with us. When our soul’s hunger for His presence, we can easily confuse that longing with feelings of grievance, sadness, or lack of interest. God promises that when we turn our thoughts to Him, that longing will be satisfied. God keeps close to us every moment and desires us to keep close to Him.
My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, “When will you comfort me?” Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law.
Psalm 119:81-85
In this Psalm David reminds me of how Pastors have it rough. Pastors who do their work well should be paid accordingly and be highly appreciated, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. For the scriptures read, “Never tie up the mouth of an ox when it is treading out grain, let him eat as he goes along!” And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!” Don’t listen to complaints against the pastor unless there are two or more witnesses to accuse him. If he has really sinned, then he should be rebuked in front of the whole church so that no one else will follow his example. I solemnly command you in the presence of God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Angels to do this whether the pastor is a special friend of yours or not. All must be treated exactly the same. Never be in a hurry about choosing a pastor or you may overlook his sins and then it will look as if you approve of them. Be sure that you yourself stay away of sin.

1 Timothy 5:17-22

A gossip goes around spreading rumors, while a trustworthy man or woman tries to quiet them.

Proverbs 11:13

Father God, even when I’m unaware of it, I know my soul longs for You. Teach and guide me how to draw closer to You more than ever to You each day. Thank You and praise You for friends and family. Thank You for placing us in families, in the home, in our local churches, and being Your children in a Christian world. Help me to grasp every opportunity to care for those You place in my path, those that are younger who need guidance and encouragement. Those that are older and need loving care and support, especially in a world so uncertain. Thank You for all Pastors, their family’s and thank You for their hearts. Develop in me Father God, a godly attitude that fixes my hope on You alone, and I pray that I would develop the privileged habit of drawing close to You, moment by moment and day by day, in humble requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings, for You are my God and I love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
